Cal HOF QB and Broadcaster Mike Pawlawski Partnering With Bear Insider

Welcome aboard, Mike Pawlawski.

The Cal football radio analyst has added some items to his already busy schedule. The former quarterback who is a member of the Cal Athletics Hall of Fame, is partnering with Bear Insider, contributing to our Cal football coverage.

Pawlawski is also president of Elite Athletes TV, which he describes as a video-based, web-app based teaching system for young athletes. He and a stellar list of premier athletes and coaches provide online instruction in a variety of sports and exercises.

For Bear Insider, Pawlawski will be contributing podcasts, film breakdowns of games and individuals, and other analyses relating to the Bears’ football program. His evaluation of USC quarterback Kedon Slovis appeared on Wednesday.

Pawlawski said Elite Athletes TV was started, “with the idea of bringing world class coaching from world class athletes to young players around the country so they could at least get the fundamentals, the drills, the skills, all that they need to perform at their highest level.”

His staff of coaches is certainly impressive. In addition to Pawlawski the group consists of former and NFL linebacker  Hardy Nickerson, softball great Michele Granger, volleyball Hall of Famer Holly McPeak, former Cal basketball coach Ben Braun, ex-major league baseball player Jon Zuber, Olympic decathlon champion Dan O’Brien, former NFL player and pro trainer Ethan Banning, soccer great Brandi Chastain and long-time Santa Clara soccer coach Jerry Smith. All but the last four have ties to Cal.

Training is offered in all the sports represented plus an additional course in “human performance.”

“I want to help the kids across America,” Pawlawski said.. “The kid in Cornfield, Iowa, who doesn’t have access to a quarterback coach  There are a lot of kids who don’t.”

And Pawlawski believes that his program also can, “augment somebody’s training who already has a coach.”

Although it has been in the works for awhile the site is relatively new. “We launched last Octobet in a soft launch, Pawlawski said. “And January is when it kicked off. And then everything else hit.

Although the site is fully operational, Pawlawski and crew are adding features.

“We are building out courses,” he said. “Eventually they will be able to do one-on-ones with our coaches and (participate in) video groups.”

The response has been more than favorable.

“We have had a good response,” he said. “All the athletes are emailing us how they are getting better.”
