Kai Millner‍ had his best game of the season from a statistical point of view, completing 27 of 47 pass attempts for 346 yards and five touchdowns in the 36-42 loss to Hamilton. He also rushed five times for 63 yards. In a shootout loss, Millner threw the ball more times than any other game in his high school career. Only in one other game has he thrown for more yards (471) earlier this year against Desert Ridge.

2020 hasn’t been the best season for the 3-4 Higley Knights, but Millner has been a walking highlight reel with 1720 yards, 17 touchdowns, and four interceptions through seven games. His 61% completion rate is definitely a concern, but his 69 carries for 360 yards and two touchdowns help make up for that. Great day for the future Golden Bear.

J Michael Sturdivant‍ caught one 60-yard touchdown in the 46-24 win over Plano West. He also recorded a two-point conversion. No other stats have been officially recorded for the season, but based on available footage, Sturdivant has caught eight touchdowns for at least 468 yards in seven games. It’s been a stalwart campaign for the future Golden Bear, whose 7-0 Marcus Marauders rank 17th in the state of Texas.

Hunter Barth‍ was recruited as a safety for Cal, but made a bigger impact on offense in Friday’s 57-15 win over Mountain Pointe, recording five receptions for 91 yards and two touchdowns. On defense he added one pass deflection. Barth is an athlete, period, and showcased his speed, footwork, and strength lining up as a tight end in Queen Creek’s offense.

This was Barth’s most impressive showing on offense this year, scoring his first two touchdowns of the season. Ironically, his only two touchdowns last year were scored in one game as well in a 50-36 victory over Boulder Creek.

Bastian Swinney‍’s Edina High School lost 12-29 to Shakopee on Wednesday night. He made some nice blocks in the loss, including a couple pancakes.
