Cal to Open Basketball Season vs. Oregon State Wednesday
California will open the 2020-21 men's basketball season against Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., on Wednesday, Nov. 25. The contest between Pac-12 foes will be played as a non-conference game.
The date became available after Cal's previously scheduled game against Colorado State was canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests within the Rams' program. The Cal-OSU game will remain at 4 p.m. PT and will be televised on the Pac-12 Network, as was originally scheduled.
"In a year when disruption is likely the norm, we had to adjust with our own COVID-19 shutdown earlier this month, and now with Colorado State's situation," said Cal head coach Mark Fox. "It was not possible to replace Colorado State on such short notice and playing Oregon State proved to be the best solution because it's most important that we play when we can safely do so."
The Golden Bears will still play NAIA member Northwest University at 3 p.m. PT Thursday in their second game at the Oregon State multiple-team event (MTE). Both games will be at Gill Coliseum.
