With the departure of former outside linebacker coach/Co-DC Tim DeRuyter to head up the Oregon defense, the Bears had some big shoes to fill after the veteran coach played a big role in turning around Cal’s bottom-dwelling defense before head coach Justin Wilcox came aboard in 2017.
