2SAN FRANCISCO – California men’s basketball fifth-year senior Grant Anticevich was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 20-26, the conference office announced Monday.
Anticevich had a career performance as he led the Golden Bears to a 73-53 victory over Pacific on Dec. 22, netting seven 3-pointers and scoring a career-high 25 points on 9-14 shooting from the field. The forward added 11 rebounds to post his fourth double-double of the season.
The Sydney, Australia native scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half, including 10 during Cal’s 21-2 game-ending run that put the contest out of reach. Anticevich’s seven made 3-pointers are the most in a single game by a Pac-12 player this season and the most by a Cal player since Jabari Bird made seven against Stanford on Feb. 17, 2017.
Anticevich – who has scored in double figures 10 times this season – is averaging career highs in points (12.2) and rebounds (7.6) in 32.5 minutes played per game as a fifth-year senior. It is the first Pac-12 weekly honor of Anticevich’s career and the first by a Bear this season.
