Bachmeier Weighing His Options, Narrowing His Focus

6-1/180 4 star Murrieta Valley wide receiver Tiger Bachmeier‍ has been on the Bears’ recruiting radar for years, starting sometime around the time they pursued his quarterback brother Hank, who’s currently a redshirt junior at Boise State.

Bachmeier’s primary recruiter has been receivers coach Burl Toler and their steady stream of communication has helped the relationship continuinally grow with the thoughful and soft-spoken receiver.

“I’d say Coach Burl has been probably the most avid communicator out there with all the teams recruiting me,” said Bachmeier. “I’ve been in touch with the Boise State coaches the longest since my brother’s there but I’d say Coach Burl’s approach goes a long way. I really like him.

“I feel like we connect really well. We’re both kind of quiet people and have similar personalities. He was probably the first coach to Facetime with me and he got a jump on everyone recruiting me.”

Bachmeier’s brother Hank surprised many with his decision to pass on offers from UCLA, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Cal, Utah, WSU and more in 2019 to play for the Broncos but after a slow start, has hit his stride at BSU.

“He loves it and loves everything about the place,” said Bachmeier. “Unfortunately, he’s had three different coordinators in his time up there already and that’s a lot to go through. He learned from every coach but it’s good to finally have one the second year.”

Interestingly, the oldest Bachmeier is the only of the four male siblings to not be blessed with a creative name, with younger brothers Tiger, Bear and Buck following him in birth order as well as athletics. 2020 presented the unique opportunity to see a Tiger catch passes from a Bear as Bachmeier’s younger brother Bear saw time at QB at Murrieta Valley last season, where Bachmeier hauled in an impressive 80 catches for 1426 yards (17.8 ypc) and 16 touchdowns as a junior.

Bachmeier also competes in track and field and has excelled there, as well, including a pr of 15’3 in the pole vault and low 42’s in the 4x100 relay. And further back in his athletic history, Bachmeier played on the winning Bronco World Series in middle school against international competition in Virginia.

Bachmeier has made several visits so far, including Cal, UW, Arizona and Arizona State and soon plans to visit Cal again as well as Stanford.

“I don’t have as much contact with Stanford but Coach Alamar has been to our school I think five times since I’ve been there,” said Bachmeier. “I’ve talked with Coach Shaw maybe for three minutes. He’s pretty even keel. It’s funny, I kind of see myself being monotone like that myself but not to that degree. I love everything about Stanford and Cal, though.”

Boise State has remained firmly in the mix for Bachmeier, too.

“it’s kind of like a possible two-for-one for them after recruiting Hank,” said Bachmeier. “They were my second offer after ASU.”

As for recruiting priorities, Bachmeier noted:

“A family-oriented atmosphere is definitely number one for me,” said Bachmeier. “Academics are important. The weight program is definitely really important to me, since I’ll be spending more time there than I will on the field. And how a program has done putting guys in the NFL is big, too.”

With the dead period almost over, the recruiting season will quickly ramp up again for the talented receiver.

“Cal, Stanford and Louisville all want me to go out for their Junior Days on March 4th and 5th but I have a track meet that day,” noted Bachmeier. “Maybe what I’ll do is a half day at two places but I don’t know if that can work out.”

Regardless, don't expect Bachmeier to take long to make his decision. His timeframe?

“100% sometime before the season, hopefully sooner than later,” said Bachmeier. “I've kind of narrowed it down to Cal, Stanford and Boise. And Louisville -I’m kind of debating a visit. And my quarterback is now at Utah and he’s loving it there. Out of those five, I’m kind of thinking of taking those five as official visits but that would push things farther out to April and June so I'll have to figure that out.”
