BERKELEY – California head coach David Durden was named the NCAA Men’s Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his career by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) on Monday.

The recognition came just two days after Durden led the Golden Bears to their seventh all-time NCAA Championship and fifth in his 15-year tenure as Cal’s head coach. Cal has won NCAA team titles under Durden in 2011, ’12, ’14, ’19 and ’22 while finishing among the top two teams at 12 consecutive national meets dating back to 2010.

Cal ended the 2022 national meet at Georgia Tech’s McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta with 487.5 points, ahead of runner-up Texas (436.5 points) and third-place Florida (374 points).

The CSCAA additionally announced its 2021-22 All-Americans, including 13 Golden Bears (see below). All-Americans are selected on the basis of their finish at the NCAA Championships and a team's current membership with the CSCAA.  Only student-athletes who competed in their championship finals are eligible for All-America Honors.
