Chisom Talks OV, Recruiting Plans
The Bears hosted a strong contingent of 2023 recruits in their third official visit weekend, including Chaminade (West Hills, CA) High School middle linebacker Isaiah Chisom, who’d previously taken an OV to Oregon State.
The program made a strong impression on the 3 star MLB.
“I really liked it at Cal,” said Chisom. “It was really nice to talk more with the coaches and meet some coaches I didn’t meet before and talk about the adademic side and really be able to go in depth on that and being able to talk to the players and see why they chose Cal.
“When I was here in the spring game, the players were busy playing so I only got to talk to a couple players but my official visit, I got to spend a lot more time with them.
“Ray Woodie was my host. The players were all really cool. We clicked right off the bat. They were just telling me how good a coach Coach Sirmon is and how much their game plans have changed since he’s been coaching them.
“He sees me as being able to play Mike or Will and he told me how they like to use their middle linebackers and how they like to blitz them up the middle or off the edge. He was showing me in my film how my game fits in with what they’re doing on defense there.”
As for his future destination, the 3 star MLB detailed what he’s looking for in a program.
“I want to be somewhere where I’ll be challenged not only by the coaches but by the players, too,” said Chisom. “Somewhere where the community really supports the school and somewhere I just feel comfortable at.
“I plan on making a decision in July or August and for sure before my season.”
This is the last official visit on Chisom’s docket unless his plans change. He’ll be on an unofficial visit to USC this weekend. His current top five includes Cal, Oregon State, USC, Utah and Fresno State.
