Cal Bested By No. 4 UCLA On The Road
LOS ANGELES – The California men’s basketball team’s penultimate regular-season road trip ended with a 78-43 loss against No. 4 UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday night.
Kuany Kuany and Joel Brown scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively, but the Golden Bears (3-24, 2-14 Pac-12) could not generate offensive momentum against UCLA on the way to their 11th consecutive loss since Jan. 11. The Bruins (23-4, 14-2) earned their 23rd straight home win, extending the longest active home winning streak in the country.
Cal got off to a slow start for the second straight game and trailed 12-0 less than five minutes into the contest. The Bears managed five first-half field goals – Brown scored their first six points and Kuany knocked down a pair of 3-pointers – and entered the locker room trailing 38-15 at halftime. Trailing 59-22 in the second half, Cal scored 10 straight points for its only big run of the night.
Jamie Jaquez Jr. scored a game-high 20 points and Amari Bailey added 16 points and nine rebounds for UCLA.
