Bears Continue to Add Portal Depth With Missouri CB Transfer Marcus Scott
The Bears continued to add impressive depth with the commitment of Missouri portal transfer Marcus Scott a few days after his official visit to Cal over the weekend.
The 2022 5-11/180 4 star consensus cornerback signed with Mizzou from Conroe High School in Texas after compiling 55 tackles, four interceptions, 18 passes broken up, two blocked kicks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, scoring three touchdowns on a pick-6, a 75-yard scoop and score and a returned onside kick for 65 yards. As a senior in 2021, Scott was named first-team District 13-6A, first-team District 13-6A academic, first-team all-county and second-team academic all-state. The speedy CB also stood out on the track as a member of his 6A state champion 4x400-meter team that had the top prep time in the nation at a blazing 3:13.37). He also ran a 10.9 in the 100m and 21.90 in the 200m.
Scott missed the 2022 season due to injury and will have four years to play four seasons for the Bears. He is the fourth defensive backfield portal add for the Bears, joining junior corners Nohl Williams and Kaylin Moore and safety Patrick McMorris along with JC safety transfer Matt Littlejohn. He is the fifth portal add for the Bears in the spring, joining McMorris, QB Ben Finley, WR Marquez Dortch and OL Matthew Wykoff as commitments in the late period.
