Cal Women's Hoops Reloads in Hopes of Strong Season

The Bears dipped into the recruiting portal in a big way this offseason, adding four portal or grad transfer veterans along with two international freshmen.

Senior center Ila Lane averaged 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds as a junior, shooting 54% from the field last season at UC Santa Barbara. Lane also led the nation in rebounding as a freshman in 2019 with 13 rebounds per game.

Kind of important the best two players and the only freshman went into the portal. Charmin's program is dead! She should have been fired at the of the '23 season.

Dude. The portal taketh and the portal giveth..... I think Charmin is a solid coach, but bummer for the talent she lost.

I thought the two best players this season were Leilani and Evelien. Leilani is returning and Evelien will graduate in molecular biology and put college basketball behind her.

Gosh, Tara VanDerveer lost 3 players to the portal (2 freshmen and 1 junior). One of those freshmen (Betts) was the #1 player in the country coming out of high school. What does that say about that coach? lol.

Maybe try supporting this team instead of constantly tearing it down.

Lauren Betts to UCLA, Agnes Emma-Npuo sp to TCU and Indiya Nivar to North Carolina. Prechtel and Jones graduated/are in the WNBA.
