The Bears added more depth to the running back room with the addition of Purdue grad transfer RB King Doerue this morning. The 5-10/205 RB was the Boilermakers leading rusher for two seasons and led the team in rushing in 2022 with 533 yards on 135 carries with a pair of rushing touchdowns, also catching 120 passes for 156 yards in six starts and 12 games played last season.
Rated a high 3 star prospect out of Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas, Doerue had a strong offer list that included Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Nebraska, TCU, Baylor, Texas A&M and more before committing to Purdue in 2019. As a true freshman in 2019. Doerue had an impressive 7 TD, with 5 on the ground and 2 through the air.
Doerue is the fourth portal or grad transfer addition at running back, joining fellow grad transfer Isaiah Ifanse and portal transfers Byron Cardwell and Justin Williams-Thomas, replacing portal departures Chris Street, DeCarlos Brooks, Damien Moore and Ashton Hayes and offers additional injury insurance with Cardwell and Williams-Thomas recovering from offseason injuries.
