Training Camp Schedule

BERKELEY – The California football team will open training camp for the 2023 season with its first practice Wednesday at California Memorial Stadium. The team's workouts will be open to the public and free of charge through Aug. 19 with a full schedule below. Attendees can enter the venue via Gate 2 in the northwest corner of the stadium and proceed to the concourse level through Stairwell 6 to available seating on the west side of the stadium in Sections E, EE, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, I and II. All other sections of the stadium including the field and North Tunnel will be closed to public access.

Cal opens its 2023 season at North Texas on Sept. 2 in a game to be televised by ESPNU. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. CT/1 p.m. PT.

Perennial national and SEC power Auburn will visit Berkeley for the first-ever meeting between the teams on Sept. 9 in the Golden Bears' home opener. The Saturday night ESPN game and Gold Out contest will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT under the lights at California Memorial Stadium, which will celebrate 100 years in 2023.

"This time of year, the excitement's building," Travers Family Head Football Coach Justin Wilcox said during an interview with Pac-12 Networks' hosts Ashley Adamson and Yogi Roth on the main stage at the Pac-12 Football Media Day earlier this month. "Getting back in the building with the players, that first day back, is always one of my favorite days of the year."

2023 Cal Football Preseason Notes

– Cal has 12 players who have earned 2023 preseason All-Pac-12 honors led by ILB Jackson Sirmon, a fourth-team All-American and first-team All-Pac-12 inside linebacker. In addition, the group includes a pair of 2022 Freshman All-Americans in RB Jaydn Ott (also Pro Football Focus first-team All-Pac-12) and DB Jeremiah Earby, as well as OLB Xavier Carlton, OL Matthew Cindric, WR Jeremiah Hunter, DL Brett Johnson, DB Patrick McMorris, OL Sioape Vatikani, DB Nohl Williams, P Lachlan Wilson and DB Craig Woodson.
– Cal returns its 2022 leaders in several statistical categories including rushing (Ott), receiving (Hunter), tackles (Sirmon), sacks and tackles for loss (Carlton) and pass breakups (Earby).
– Johnson, a 2019 Freshman All-American who most recent recently played in a game for the Golden Bears in 2020, is expected to return to action in 2023 after missing the entire last two seasons due to injury.
– Cal has added 50 student-athletes to its current 118-player roster since the end of the 2022 season and made strong use of the transfer portal in the process with the number including 28 four-year or junior college transfers.

California Memorial Stadium Location/Parking/Transportation Options

California Memorial Stadium is located at 2227 Piedmont Avenue in Berkeley between Bancroft Way and Stadium Rim Way, adjacent to the Simpson Center for Student-Athlete High Performance. Public transportation is highly recommended when visiting California Memorial Stadium. There are multiple public transportation options. Parking in the vicinity is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please read all signs at each parking location for further important information. See below for some suggestions in order of proximity to the stadium.

Stadium Parking Garage – Paid parking near corner of Gayley Road (where Piedmont becomes Gayley Road) and Stadium Rim Way just north of stadium

Street Parking – Paid and two-hour free parking may be available on streets near stadium

Witter Lot – Paid parking near the corner of Centennial Drive and Stadium Rim Way just east of the stadium

Lower Sproul Garage – Paid parking on north side of Bancroft Way between Telegraph Avenue and Dana Street

Rec Sports Facility Garage – Paid parking on north side of Bancroft Way between Dana Street and Ellsworth Street
