Aimaq Named Pac-12 Player Of The Week
BERKELEY – California forward Fardaws Aimaq was voted as the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week following an impressive three-game stretch in Southern California, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Aimaq averaged 18.3 points on 57.9% shooting from the floor (22 of 38) and 14.3 rebounds per game across three narrow losses against UTEP and Tulane in the SoCal Challenge and San Diego State in the SoCal Showcase, all of which were played in San Juan Capistrano between Nov. 20-25. The big man double-doubled in each game, giving him five for the season, which is tied for the most in the country.
The Vancouver native scored a season-high 23 points in an 84-81 loss to Tulane on Nov. 22 and followed that effort with another season-high mark of 18 rebounds – including eight offensive boards – against 2023 national runner-up San Diego State on Nov. 25.
Aimaq is averaging 16.7 PPG and 10.9 RPG in seven starts for Cal this season. He leads the Pac-12 in rebounds per game, total rebounds (76) and offensive boards (29).
The Bears return to play on Saturday when they host Santa Clara at 4 p.m. PST in Berkeley.
