Bears Pick Up OLB Stanford Flip Luke Ferrelli
Continuing a busy extended commitment weekend, the Bears added a commitment from prior Stanford outside linebacker commit Luke Ferrelli. The 6-3/220 OLB originally committed to Arizona in April before switching his commitment to Stanford over the summer. Now as the early signing period approaches for the early enrollee recruit, Ferrelli found his future home at Cal.
“What made Cal the right fit for me, was definitely the style of coaching and care that Coach Sirmon has for his players,” Ferrelli said. “He made it clear to me that coming early would be a big deal and it would develop me as a player and a person.
“Being an early grad was a big deal for me. It gives me a chance to have a better understanding of the program early and get a head start, for sure.
“When I visited, what stood out to me the most was the intensity and discipline they practice with. Everything they were doing was for a reason and was done the right way.”
The 3 star OLB had a solid year for Carlsbad, adding 56 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in Carlsbad’s 10-1 season. An excellent athlete, Ferrelli also played tight end and recorded a 4.56 forty and an impressive 37-inch vertical. He becomes the 14th non-portal or grad transfer signee of the 2024 class. They’ll be joined by grad transfers MLB Teddye Buchanan and QB Chandler Rogers.
