F&%k Stanford!

I love you, Rod. I'm looking forward to your breakdown of the game.

love these podcasts with a great mix of real basketball insight and commentary mixed in with lots of other stuff

To me, his comparison of the Cal v Stanford rivary was great. It's not just blue v red and geo that makes the two schools the perfect rivary

same reason I like his book. for those of you who haven't gotten his book yet, I highly recommend it. Rod's behind the scenes story of Victoria by itself is worth the price (and lots of cal references throughout the book)

Man this is spot on Rod. I wrote a letter to the editor in the SF Chron sports section back in the 90s, because the announcers in the NCAA tourney kept saying how rough Stanford players had it "because they had to take their midterms during the Sweet 16".

Why would stanford be the only team that has exams in March? How is it "leaked" that Stanford players need to take midterms in their hotel, and why would no other schools have to deal with this? What a complete PR trash story that the stanford media org. fed to journalists. And they totally lapped it up.
This stanford pedestal-raising has been going on forever. I cant believe it's still a thing. Embarrassing.

The most ridiculous thing about that story is that EVERYONE knows that the only thing hard about Stanfurd is getting in.................unless you are the child of an athletic superstar or other celebrity.

Moreover, Stanford professors and administration are typically FAR more accommodating of students who need to take a mid-term remotely or even postpone it compared to larger, more bureaucratic public schools (like Cal).

I would have no problem with Cal faculty accommodating athletes with scheduling problems for midterms or labs. Of course, at Stanford, the student needs a good excuse like their AI-driven dog-poop recycling company (POOP-AI) doing it's IPO.

my kid traveled with the band to Shreveport for the Indy bowl. He had to take an econ final on Friday the 15th at like 1pm. He said there were several football players taking finals, and there were 2 or 3 reps from the athletic dept. academic support group proctoring. It was pretty strict, plus they were taking the exam in a conference room at Sam's Town Casino, and they could hear the casino floor noises through the door.

I thought it was going to be very lax, in your hotel room kind of thing. My kid told me it was stressful as hell.

Imagine a stanford kid having to struggle like this.
