Recruits Impressed on Visit to Cal
The Bears hosted their biggest group of the spring over the weekend before heading off to spring break and so far, the reviews have been good.
2025 Crean Lutheran inside linebacker Carter Jones committed to the Bears in December and he was back for another look Friday and Saturday at Memorial.
“It was great to be back up at Cal and see all of the coaches and the staff members,” Jones said. “I have a great relationship with them. I feel like I am on the team already as I have gotten to sit in on their meetings and be at practice. I am very excited to get up there and be part of it.
“I really like the guys on the team. The offense looks explosive and the defense is flying to the ball. I’m excited to watch Cal compete to win the ACC this year!”
2025 4 star Laguna Beach QB Jackson Kollock also made the trip North and the 6-4/215 QB came away with a favorable impression of the program.
“There’s definitely a lot of talent in the program and coaching staff is great,” Kollock said. “The whole program acts like a family all working towards the common goal of becoming a great football team.”
2025 3 star Pittsburg ATH Dominick Calhoun made the half hour drive to Berkeley on Saturday.
“My visit was great,” Calhoun said. “I got to talk to the majority of the staff and they treated me great. I got a tour around the facility and it was good. I love how they treat their student athletes.
“The energy at the practice was super high! The competition was great and the coaches were doing a great job at coaching up the players and helping them better themselves. My interaction with the coaches was great. They told me everything I wanted to know about the program and school and I feel that this is just the beginning of a strong relationship with the staff.”
2025 3 star Windsor ATH Hayden Anderson made the trip across the bay from the north bay to Cal.
“The visit went well,” Anderson said. “I really like Coach Toler and the rest of the staff and they obviously have a nice campus and facilities. From what i saw at practice, they really like competing and getting after it and have some guys that looked good.”
2026 Monte Vista DE Dakota Dickson made the quick drive to Cal Saturday as well. It was one of several visits in the past year for the son of former Cal defensive lineman Joel Dickson.
“My visit was great the whole time,” Dickson said. “The Cal Bears have a special group forming for this year and they looked pretty good. The coaches and team were welcoming, engaging and great towards me.”
2026 Crean Lutheran DE Anthony Jones was one of three Crean Lutheran Jones’s to visit Cal over the weekend. The 6-4/240 DE/OLB made the trip up with commit Carter Jones and his 2027 QB brother, Caden.
“The visit was great, being able to sit down with the players and coaches in their position meetings was pretty cool,” Jones said. “Cal has a very good outside linebacker room so i was able to pick up a few tips from them at practice.”
