Bears Add Third Portal Commitment to 2024 Class in Forward B.J. Omot
The Bears added their third portal transfer as part of their roster rebuild project for 2024 with the addition of 6-8/185 North Dakota forward BJ Omot. The 4 star portal rated soph forward averaged 16.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the Fighting Hawks in the 2nd place 10-6/18-14 season in 2023-24.
Originally out of Mankato East High School in Mankato, Minnesota, Omot earned 1st Team All-Summit honor in ‘23-24, also leading the team with 29 blocks and 53 3-pointers on the season.
As a frosh, the latest Bear averaged 12 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists along with 31 blocks. As a prep. Omot earned 1st team all-state in his junior and senior seasons, averaging 22.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3 assists per game as a senior in Makato East’s third place finishing the Minnesota state playoffs.
Omot joins Vanderbilt PF/C Lee Dort and JC wing transfer Jeff Nwankwo as well as prep point guard Jeremiah Wilkinson as part of Cal’s 2024 recruiting class. They still have seven roster spots to fill unless any of the portal entrants choose to return.
