The Safety Room:

Phil Steele has a PDR (Pass Defense Rating) that he tabulates after every season. Cal was regularly in the top 25 nationally before dropping to 88^th in 2022 and barely improving in 2023 to 83^rd. As far as safety play goes, that was not because of a lack of talent.
