BERKELEY -- The California football team is set to face Florida State at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 21 with the game being televised on either ESPN or ESPN2, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Monday.

The network designation will be determined after this Saturday's (Sept. 14) slate of games. The matchup in Tallahassee, Florida will be Cal's first ACC game as a member of the conference and will also be the Golden Bears' first contest in program history against the Seminoles.

Cal (2-0) is coming off of a 21-14 road win at SEC opponent Auburn last week and returns home to California Memorial Stadium on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. PT kickoff vs. San Diego State on ESPN.

Gosh, I could get used to day games, again.
"Just win, baby."

We have a chance to be undefeated against Florida State all-time. That will be a nice record to have.

7pm local time, weather/heat won't be a factor.

good exposure for our program to play these primetime slots vs a marquee east coast brand. this ACC thing is not half bad after all.

It is all working to plan. ESPN putting us in the night slots on the East Coast makes all the sense in the world. Should have a big national audience. And this is where pushing "California" as our brand really comes into play.

Personally I'm especially happy because this is a 10 am Sunday kickoff here in the western Pacific. Plenty of places will have it on the big screens whike we are at a late breakfast.

The good news / bad news is Oregon State beat them 21-0. However, they also crushed Texas A&M Commerce 45-14 whereas Davis beat TAMC 36-22.

My conclusion: We should not overlook them and we may regret scheduling Oregon State for late October.

Here are extended highlights from the SDSU - OSU game:

Also, we'll be coming off starting at 10pm the week prior?

We will be practically playing mid day in the cool evening air.

Anyone driving from and to ATL or Orlando?

I need to be in NYC Monday, so might as well go to the game.

I tuned in the last 5 minutes, and it looked like the Beavs sucked out the life from the Aztecs, they just gave up and punted down 21-0, looked pretty bad for their coaches.

Welp, sometimes that means they play with their hair on fire for the next game.
Beware of smugness. The lesson learned by Auburn;
"Just win, baby."

Oregon State looks good, they continue to go Moneyball with "too short" QB and "too small" RBs behind a huge line.

Go Bears!! The Auburn win has just teed us up for this game against FSU. As Fernando said, we want to change the narrative on Cal. This FSU road game and then home against Miami are as big of an opportunity as we'll get.

Gotta take care of SDSU, of course. One game at a time...

I watched both of SDSU's games so far, and I really like their running back Marquez Cooper, but their quarterback has not played well, looks undersized, and has struggled. I think defensively Cal should stop the run, and make them beat us through the air. SDSU's defense seems average, and is not something too be afraid of.

Cal's biggest opponent this week would be hubris, a travel hangover, and looking ahead to FSU.

So basically the opposite of the Maryland game (the jahvid Gatorade game) where we had to play in the wee hours in the morning (our time) in brutal heat and humidity. That was a fun road trip.
