The Bears picked up their second commitment of their 2025 class this week with the commitment of 5’10 state champion Detroit Edison Academy SG Isis Johnson-Musah weeks after her official visit to Cal. The newest Bear also stars for her Michigan Crossover AAU squad after averaging 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists a game in her junior season.

"Going to Cal, it was culturally different so I like that," Johnson said. "It was just like a lot of cultures mixed into one. I really like the city and there's so much you can do there so I feel like I'll never get bored."

"My relationship with the Cal coaches is actually pretty cool," Johnson said. "Me and Coach Charmin, we talked the most out of our coaches so we have a really tight bond and I like everything she stands for. Coach Eliza, she's real cool. She calls me her little sister so that's cute. And Coach Jenny, I've been knowing her since she was at Kentucky. We go way back and she's really funny. I like that."

Johnson made the trip out west for her official visit a couple weeks ago, taking in the Bears’ 31-10 win over San Diego State.

"We went out to dinner and we hung out with the team, and went to the football game and the apartments,” Johnson said. “It was real nice. I liked that too.

"It's just like a family vibe. Everybody got along well. Everybody was just vibing and chilling together. I really liked it and it really felt like a family. I visited with Grace McCallum. She actually committed and then another girl who's name I can't remember. Grace seems really cool."

"The game was pretty crazy and it was hard to see with all the students standing all game but they showed their school spirit and I really like their campus. It's sort of an old-fashioned college campus."

The Bears beat out Pitt, Mississippi State, Creighton and Boston College for Johnson’s commitment. As for why she chose the Bears?

"Definitely the opportunities I could have at Cal and in California were a big factor for me," the newest Bear noted. "And I really like Coach Charmin a lot. And just the culture in California and diversity. And for sure academics are a big reason for choosing Cal, too. They're one of the best schools in the country and my parents are big on that."

Smooth, athletic w/ a nice finishing package

If she can shoot and defend she can be an early starter
