CHARLOTTE – California freshman guard Jeremiah Wilkinson was named ACC Men's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Wilkinson scored a season-high 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting – including 6 of 8 from 3-point range – and added four assists and a pair of steals in Cal's 81-55 win over Mercyhurst on Nov. 27.

Wilkinson shared the award with Syracuse's Donnie Freeman. He's the first Golden Bear to earn an ACC men's basketball award and the first Cal freshman to receive a conference's weekly honor since Charlie Moore was named Pac-12 Player of the Week on Nov. 21, 2016.

Wilkinson's 25-point effort led Cal to its fourth straight win and a 6-1 record, its best start since the 2016-17 season. His six 3-pointers made against Mercyhurst are tied for the most by any ACC player in a game this season. The Powder Springs, Georgia, native is one of only two ACC freshmen with two 20-point games this season, joining Duke's Cooper Flagg.

His 25 points are the most by a Cal freshman in a single game since Justice Sueing scored 25 against Washington State on Feb. 22, 2018, and his 64 points scored in Cal's past three games – all wins – are the most in a three-game span by a Cal freshman since Moore totaled 73 between Nov. 16-25, 2016.

Wilkinson and the Bears return to action at Missouri on Tuesday in the SEC/ACC Challenge.
