Bears Pick Up Notre Dame Defensive Lineman Tyson Ford
The Bears picked up a commitment from Notre Dame defensive lineman Tyson Ford today.
The 6-4/290 Ford was a 4 star recruit in 2022 with a stellar list of offers, including Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and more before committing to Notre Dame.
As a prep, Ford was rated the number 105 player nationally by Rivals and was named first team all-state and participated in the Al-American Bowl after totaling 58 tackles, 19 tackles-for-loss and 11 sacks in his senior season.
As a freshman in 2023, Ford participated in two games with one tackle. Ford sat out the 2024 season after being reclassified as a medical non-counter and will have three years of eligibility at Cal.
Ford’s portal transfer to Cal follows former Notre Dame DL transfer Aidan Keanaaina, who shook off an injury-plagued career at Notre Dame with a strong senior season with the Bears, totaling 42 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack and 1 pass defended.
Ford becomes the first portal signee of Cal’s 2025 class and will soon be joined by another silent commit who’s yet to announce.
