Beardog26 correctly stated it was one of the best collegiate rugby games he had ever seen....... and he should know, having been both a football and rugby player of substantial repute at Cal.

The level of intensity was off the charts. With online tickets sold out the day before, you knew this was going to be epic. And it was......everything you want in a rugby match.

There are other write-ups about this on both Insider and Growls, so I won't repeat what's already been shared in those posts and in this article.......with one exception:

The top 8 teams going into the playoffs are all really good. It will be interesting to see who Cal draws and where it will be played. Coach Clark obviously has this team well prepared and fit. But rugby across the nation has been growing and improving steadily. Many schools are bringing in foreign players and foreign coaches who grew up with the game, and they are improving the level of play at the collegiate level quickly and effectively. Cal has exported coaches to other schools who are bringing what they learned at Cal to their new programs. This combination of Cal exports along with other schools rugby imports is making the competitive level for the national championship at a very high standard.

What Coaches Clark and Billups have accomplished in the last years has been the inspiration for this national explosion of enthusiasm for the game. And those of us who played, and those of us who love this sport, are to be forever grateful to what Cal has done for the game (even going back several decades where it was not anywhere near as sophisticated and high quality as it is now. I played back in the day when there were very few players and/or coaches that had grown up with the game as it is now. And everything I knew about rugby I learned thanks to Cal Rugby introducing the game to me).

These will be the best, most competitive playoffs in the history of collegiate rugby. And I can not wait!!!
