TE Grad Transfer Morris Excited For the Opportunity at Cal
The Bears picked up another addition this weekend with the commitment of Temple tight end Landon Morris as a grad transfer after graduating from Temple with a 3.7 gpa. The 6-5/240 transfer originally committed to Syracuse in 2021 out of Indiana and enrolled there but transferred to Utah before playing. He eventually transferred to Temple and after sitting out a year due to his transfer, he totaled 16 catches for 251 yards and a touchdown in seven games last season.
“I’m incredibly grateful for God's guidance and blessings, without which none of this would be possible,” Morris said after the commitment. “Cal has propelled legends to the highest echelons of football, embodying prestige both on and off the field.
“Everyone at Cal, from the coaches to the support staff, is committed to cultivating a winning culture rooted in excellence. The commitment to excellence and the environment they’ve instilled in Berkeley, where student athletes can thrive academically and athletically, is what stood out to me. I am honored to join the Cal family and eager to contribute to the team's continued success. Go Bears!”
As a prep at Nazareth Academy in Indianapolis, IN, Morris had 81 career catches for 1,456 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Morris will have two seasons of eligibility remaining for the Bears. He joins a slimmed down tight end room of Ben Marshall, Mason Mini and Jeffrey Johnson as scholarship players at tight end for the Bears this season.
