De La Salle DL Telona Stays Local With Cal
The Bears stayed hot on their first 2026 official visit weekend of the summer, adding their third commitment of the weekend in 6-2/285 De La Salle High School defensive lineman Nemyah Telona today.
Telona is no stranger to Cal, having visited several times, including on the Bears’ Junior Day where he came away impressed.
“I had an amazing time at Cal’s Jr day visit,” Telona said. “It was very informative and what stood out to me was how they have their players back when football season is over. They have programs that can set their players up for success during and after football.
“My relationship with the staff is good. I’ve gotten closer with Coach Browning, and I had a few conversations with Coach Marcus (Griffin), who was a great help during the tour, and the whole coaching staff is filled with great people. I’m looking forward to future visits.
"The difference between this OV and my last visits was that I got a better understanding of how Cal works, the organization and the community is all about family and there’s a lot of support for their players both athletically and academically, it’s just a great atmosphere there. What stood out to me was that they truly care for their players and it’s just one big family. The program itself is amazing I truly believe that Coach Browning can develop me into the best player I can be."
The 3 star local DL had 31 tackles and four sacks in 9 games for the Spartans in their State runner-up season in 2024. He holds offers from Auburn, Oregon, Arizona, ASU, Minnesota and more.
Telona joins fellow OV weekend commits Elisha Faamatuainu (OT) and RB Victor Santino along with OL Artem Korchagin, 4 star edge Camron Brooks, LBs Jonathan McKinley and Jonathan McKinley and DBs Jayden Crowder and Deon Jackson in their total of nine 2026 commits to-date.
Stay tuned for more news from this weekend’s official visitors.
