Two fifth year starters depart while Cal welcomes five newcomers to the position. A wholesale changing of the guard will take place on the back end of the Bears defense. This position has been a consistent strength for the defense under Wilcox. Will that continue in 2025?

The last line of defense.  The signal callers in the defensive backfield.  The back end enforcers and the at times would be linebackers stopping the run.  Safeties do a lot and for the last eight seasons in Berkeley, Cal has had plenty of good ones.

The Bears lose two fifth year senior starters in Craig Woodson (NFL draft pick, 3rd team All ACC) and Miles Williams.
