Cal Contingent Set For ACC Kickoff
California football general manager Ron Rivera, Travers Family Head Football Coach Justin Wilcox, quarterbacks Devin Brown and Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, defensive lineman Aidan Keanaaina and linebacker Cade Uluave are set to represent the Golden Bears in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday for ACC Kickoff.
The Bears are scheduled to take the stage at 11 a.m. PT on day one of the three-day event with live coverage of ACC Kickoff beginning at 6 a.m. PT on ACC Network each day.
Brown, a transfer quarterback who spent his first three seasons at Ohio State, transferred to Cal in the spring following Ohio State’s national championship run. As a Buckeye, he recorded 331 yards passing and three touchdowns through the air while adding one rushing touchdown on the ground. In 2024, he made an appearance in nine games during Ohio State’s national championship-winning season.
Sagapolutele, a true freshman from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, joins the Bears from the high school ranks and a brief stint at Oregon after being rated a 5-star recruit and the No. 19 overall player (No. 4 QB) by On3 in the class of 2025.
Keanaaina, a stalwart along the defensive line, appeared in all 13 games last season for Cal. In 2024, he tallied 45 tackles, 2.5 TFL, one sack and defended a pass. Entering the 2025 season, he has been named Preseason All-ACC Fourth Team by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele.
Uluave, a Preseason All-American Third-Team choice by Phil Steele entering the season, leads the 2025 Cal defensive crew after being named All-ACC Honorable Mention a season ago. Despite missing four games in 2024, he tallied 71 tackles, three TFL, three passes defended, one interception and a half sack for the Bears. Last year, he recorded six games with eight or more tackles and three games with 11 or more tackles from his linebacker position. In addition to his 2025 Preseason All-American Third-Team nod, he has been selected as a Preseason All-ACC First-Team choice by Phil Steele and a Preseason ACC All-Conference Second-Team choice by Athlon Sports.
