The Bears were back at Memorial again on Saturday and again hosted one of their 2026 commits as well as several 2027 offerees.
Here’s a rundown from most of the visitors.
Tyree Sams - 5-8/175 WR, Clovis North. As a junior, the blazing fast WR with 10.4 100 speed had 44 catches for 534 yards and 7 TDs and 1,000 all-purpose yards along with one interception on defense for Clovis North in a run-heavy offense led by McKay Madsen, a 4-star standout running back and linebacker who committed to BYU. Samms will be making a return visit to Berkeley tomorrow after taking in last week’s victory.
“Omg, last game was crazy,” Sams said. “Had me on the edge of my seat! A lot of big plays made. The night game atmosphere was more electric than the 3pm game last week. The student section was crazy! The energy was high and it was a lot of gold everywhere.
“When I went down to the locker room, it was soooo hype and everyone was happy, going crazy over the win. It was so lit I wanted to join them! But the love that all the coaches show me is surreal. And some of the players know my name and gave me handshakes and stuff, mainly Jacob de Jesus and Jaron.”
Jaylen Fitzgerald - 6-5/215 ATH, Brophy Prep (Phoenix, AZ) - The 2025 ATH holds offers from Arizona, Kansas, Cal and more.
“My visit to Cal was a great experience and I really enjoyed it,” Fitzgerald said. “One of the main things that stood out to me was the immediate hospitality I felt as soon as I stepped on campus, not just from the staff, but also from the college students. It showed me that Cal has an amazing atmosphere. I was also very impressed with the weight room and the superb facilities. Lastly, the stadium really stood out to me. I loved how intense and passionate the fans were, and the incredible support they showed for the team. Overall, it was a really fun visit, and I can’t wait to be back!”
Jeovanni Henley - 6-0/165 ATH, Junipero Serra (San Mateo, CA) - The 6-0/165 2027 3 star ATH holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, San Jose State and more.
“During my visit to Cal, I was very impressed by the overall environment,” Henley said. “The energy from the fans created an exciting atmosphere that I truly enjoyed. Speaking with the coaches before the game gave me a strong sense of belonging and made the campus feel like home. The entire experience was memorable and I would welcome the opportunity to return for another game. It was also great to see Cal come away with a win.”
Blake Wong - 6-1/170 WR, Norco HS (Norco, CA) - The 2027 3 star receiver holds offers from Ohio State, Michigan State, Arizona State and more.
“The visit was great,” Wong said. “Loved the game atmosphere and the student section. I really like the backdrop of the stadium. I thought the team played great, with physical defense and love how much Cal threw the ball. It was great having little bit of time to talk to the coaches, also.”
Brody Rudnicki - 6-1/205 QB, Folsom HS (Folsom, CA) - The 2027 QB made the trip to Berkeley with his teammate, Rob Larson. He holds offers from last weekend’s opponent, Minnesota, Arizona State, BYU and more.
“It was an awesome atmosphere with so many students in the student section it shows just how invested and believing everybody is in the program,” Rudnicki said.
Malakai Taufoou - 6-2/200 Safety, Junipero Serra (San Mateo, CA) - The 4 star 2027 safety made the trip to Berkeley with teammate Jeovanni Henley for Saturday’s game vs Minnesota. Taufoou holds offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Washington and more.
Cal will next hit the field at San Diego State Saturday night at 7:30 in Snapdragon Stadium. San Diego Cal commit Frank Fanua as well as likely several other SoCal recruits.
“It was great,” Taufoou said. “The things that stood out to me were how the defense flew around, the team’s intensity and the energy from the crowd was amazing.”
