The Bears’ first meeting with the Cavaliers in Memorial Stadium ended in frustration — a 31–21 loss to a talented Virginia team that has made a living off the same three elements Cal struggled with: third-down conversions, turnovers, and line play.

Virginia entered the game ranked among the ACC’s best in those categories — plus-eight in turnovers, elite on both sides of third down, and dominant in the trenches. Those traits held true Saturday.
