California football quarterback and freshman All-American candidate Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele was named the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week for his performance in the Golden Bears' 29-26 overtime victory at No. 14 Louisville game on Saturday.

Sagapolutele was initially named to the Davey O'Brien Great 8 on Monday but was later named the National Quarterback of the Week on Tuesday.

On Monday, Sagapolutele was selected as both the ACC's Rookie and Quarterback of the Week and earned a Manning Award Star of the Week.

Sagapolutele hit Jacob De Jesus with a three-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-goal on the game's final play at Louisville for the game winner to cap a career night in which he completed 30-of-47 passes for 323 yards - all career highs - along with two touchdown throws.

Sagapolutele has begun his collegiate career with 10 consecutive games of 200 or more yards passing and is the only Power 4 and second FBS player to accomplish the feat. Houston's David Piland began his collegiate career with 14 straight games of 200 or more yards passing spanning the 2010 and 2012 seasons (did not play in 2011).

On the season, Sagapolutele has completed 224-of-364 passes for 2518 yards along with 13 touchdown throws. Sagapolutele is tied for second in the ACC and tied for sixth nationally in completions (tied for third among FBS players), while he is third in the ACC and 12th nationally in passing yards (8th among FBS players).

Wow. First P4 freshman to ever pass for 200 or more yards his first 10 games?!! That is insane considering the history of college football and the fact our offense is one of the worst in FBS. Imagine if he had better WRs who could get open with fewer drops and more YAC? (DeJesus being the exception but only 5'5").

We are seeing one of the great ones! Imua Na Pea!
