After a busy week where Cal brought in former DL coach and current Oregon DC Tosh Lupoi as their new head coach, the dust has started to settle so we circled back to some of the visitors for Cal’s season finale 37-34 upset win over SMU to get their impressions on their visits and the Cal victory.
Nainoa Lopes 3 star 6-4/190 St. Louis/Honolulu quarterback - The future Cal QB had 15 TDS, 4 INTs for 1,320 yards this season in 8 games and has risen up the recruiting charts for 2026 QBs. Lopes threw for 4 TDs and 210 yards in St. Louis’ final playoff game.
“Experiencing that win over SMU was better than I imagined. I was so blessed to be there and celebrate with the guys. Jaron and I been friends for a while so to see him win it was awesome! I loved the atmosphere and like how Coach Rolo operates, he’s positive and knowledgeable. I really hope they give him a permanent spot on staff.
“I plan to be at the Hawai’i Bowl game and then next day I head to Vegas to visit my Papa for Christmas then Alabama to get some QB training in before I check into campus Jan 15th as a spring enrollee. Exciting times for sure.”
Isaiah Chong - 3 star 5-11/165 Campbell HS safety. The Sac State commit is looking to follow fellow Campbell HS star QB Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele to Cal. He also has offers from Nevada, Colorado State and Penn. The former teammate of the Cal QB celebrated a state championship win with the Cal QB last weekend.
“Loved it. To be able to watch one of my good friends play and ball out, it was amazing. Jaron is unreal.”
Toa Satele - 4 star 6-3/200 Mililani linebacker - The 4 star LB has an impressive early offer list, including Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon, Ohio State, Oklahoma and more.
“It was a great game day visit. First time in the bay and it was a great atmosphere. Appreciate all the things Cal did to make the game day visit possible. Great team win against SMU and can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future ahead!”
Sosa Faniel - 3 star 6-4/210 Richmond, VA tight end. The junior TE already has an impressive offer list, including Alabama, Penn State, Florida State and Michigan State.
“I loved the atmosphere there. Cal is a great school and I loved the game. The fans show so much love to the players and that's one of the things that means something to me when looking for a school. The coaching staff also showed me so much love and showed truly how much they wanted me to go to their school.”
Titus Osterman - 3 star 6-4/220 Idaho tight end - The junior TE also holds offers from Washington and Utah State so far.
“It was great fun watching an upset, especially without a head coach. Really, the atmosphere wasn’t the best since not too many came to the game but I liked how they still played there hardest and got a dub.”
