Depending on our WR talent, would love to see the offense utilize occasional 3 TE sets. It was fun watching the Rams use that formation regularly this season.
The Bears hot portal recruitng streak continued with the commitment of New Mexico portal transfer Dorian Thomas today. Thomas became the fifth 4 star recruit for the Bears so far in the opening days of the transfer portal.
As a soph this season for New Mexico, Thomas hauled in 56 catches for 560 yards and 4 TDs for the Lobos. The newest Bear has the talent to become an elite pass catching tight end for the Bears, joining breakout soph Mason Mini, junior Ben Marshall and talented prep recruit Taimane Purcell.
The 6-4/235 Thomas is rated the #5 tight end and #102 overall in the portal and was hotly pursued by UCLA, Florida, Ohio State and more before his commitment to Cal days after his visit.
Thomas becomes the sixth commit of Cal’s 2026 portal recruiting class, joining former Rutgers receiver Ian Strong, UW running back Adam Mohammed, South Dakota OT Jacob Arop, edge Solomon Williams and safety Kingston Lopa.
