The Bears picked up UTEP frosh running back Emory Ashton today after his official visit to Cal.

"I can see myself playing under Coach KB and Coach Tosh," Emory said. "It was an amazing environment soon as I got to the facility.

"I feel Cal is the best fit for me in many different ways and one of the ways being the way Coach Somerville will run the offensive side of the ball. I trust them and believe we can be the best team In the ACC!!"

Rated the #25 RB and a 3 star in the portal by On3, the 5-11/205 all-conference freshman RB had 117 carries for 569 yards (4.9 ypc) and 6 TDs in his frosh season for UTEP this season.

Emory becomes the 7th commitment to the 2026 Cal portal recruiting class. He'll join fellow running back Adam Muhammad, receiver Ian strong, tight end Dorian Thomas, OT Jaxob Arop, edge Solomon Williams and safety Kingston Lopa.

Tosh flexing his elite recruiting muscle.

Btw, will there be an interview with our OC Sommerville soon? He is sharing his offensive strategy with recruits already. It would be great if the fanbase can also get a peak into his offensive philosophy and scheme

He'll say it'll be multiple with balance between run and pass. Not trying to be a smart ass, but we can't expect him to open the playbook now, can we. He needs to be able to emphasize parts of it, depending on who he's talking with.

Can we fix the spelling of Ashten's name in this article? Seems like his name is spelled with an 'e' not an 'o'.

For that matter, also a one-off typo of "Jacob" as "Jaxob" at the end.
