Bears Snag Mississippi State OT Jimothy Lewis
Thought to be a signee with Alabama and rumored to be a flip to Cal, Mississippi State redshirt frosh offensive tackle Jimothy Lewis announced his commitment to Cal today. The Bears also beat out Oregon, Texas, USC and more for Lewis’ commitment.
Lewis announced his decision first on youtube, saying, “When I look at schools, I look at what’s the culture of the school. For example, if they’re family-based, if they’re strict, if all the coaches work hard together and get along, is the training staff good? All the important stuff. I looked into that and chose from there.
“I just want to thank the whole Cal staff. Their staff is like a big family. They all joke around and they all do all kinds of stuff together. I’d like to thank Coach Coach (Ron Coccimiglio). He’s over there doing stuff getting players ready for after college ball.
“Everybody in their facility is real, straight to the point and that’s what I love about Cal.

After playing in four games as a true frosh and preserving his redshirt season. In 2025, Lewis played over 300 snaps, struggling some initially then coming back from injury to play well and earn significant portal attention after his return.
As a senior at IMG Academy the consensus 4 star recruit was ranked as the #26 offensive lineman by 247Sports. Lewis was also named to the 2024 All-American Bowl and the Polynesian Bowl as a prep. MSU beat out Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, Indiana and more for his commitment in 2024.
Lewis joins fellow OL commits Jacob Arop (South Dakota) and Mykeal Rabess (FIU), running backs Adam Mohammed (UW), Carter Vargas (UC Davis) and Ashton Emory, receivers Chase Hendricks (Ohio) and Ian Strong (Rutgers), tight end Dorian Thomas edge Solomon Williams, DL Justin Beadles (Louisville) and Ashun Shepphard (Miss St) and safeties Kingston Lopa (Oregon) and Michael Hurst Jr (NAU).
