The Bears added another piece to their offensive line room with the commitment of Minnesota portal transfer interior offensive lineman Kahlee Tafai.
The big 6-5/335 redshirt soph started his collegiate career at Washington for two seasons, playing in eight games and starting four before tranferring to Minnesota last season where he was limited by injury, playing in 3 games for the Golden Gophers after having surgery prior to the season.
As a 3 star prep at Leuzinger High School (Lawndale, CA), Tafai chose the Huskies over Oregon, Utah, BYU and Arizona, BYU and more.
He becomes the fourth transfer portal signee for the Bears and the first interior lineman along with OTs Jimothy Lewis (Mississippi State), Jacob Arop (South Dakota) and Mykeal Rabess (FIU) as well as running backs Adam Mohammed (UW), Carter Vargas (UC Davis) and Ashton Emory, WRs Cooper Perry (Oregon), Ian Strong (Rutgers) and Chase Hendricks (Ohio), tight end Dorian Thomas, edge Solomon Williams, DL Justin Beadles (Louisville) and Ashun Shepphard (Miss St), LB Tristan Jernigan, safeties Kingston Lopa and Michael Hurst Jr and CB Marquis Groves-Killebrew in their 2026 transfer portal recruiting class.
