The Bears are offering a flash sale from today through Monday at 5 pm PDT, with a special price of $37.13 for tickets to Friday’s highly-anticipated 7:30 pm clash with Clemson. The price pays homage to Cal’s dominating 37-13 win over favored Clemson in the Citrus Bowl.

The Bears will also be honoring the 1991 team during the game, with many players from the team expected to attend the game and festivities.

Capping the 1991 season on New Year's Day 1992, #14 Cal met #13 Clemson in the Florida Citrus Bowl. The team was led by Bruce Snyder in his fifth season with the program and included a young offensive coordinator named Steve Mariucci calling plays. The Bears were on a mission that New Year’s Day in Florida and that mission was accomplished in a big way.

The Bears jumped on top of Clemson 17–3 in the first quarter and never let the Tigers breathe. Russell White churned out 103 yards on the ground, Brian Treggs took a 72-yard punt return to the house and a swarming Cal defense picked off Clemson three times in that opening quarter alone. By halftime it was 27–10, and the 37–13 final result reflected the true dominance of the win. Quarterback Mike Pawlawski walked off with MVP honors.

Clemson came in as the reigning ACC champion riding a five-game bowl win streak. Cal snapped it, wrapped up a 10–2 season, and put the country on notice. For a program that hadn't had back-to-back bowl wins since the Rose Bowl years of 1949–51, it was a genuine high-water mark.

In 1992, this was a cross-country curiosity - a Pac-10 team crashing an ACC champion's bowl. Fast-forward to 2026 and Cal is the ACC now. What was once a New Year's novelty is a conference game with standings implications. Both schools even call their home field "Memorial Stadium," though the Tigers likely won’t feel so at home in the West Coast version of Memorial on Friday.

Cal comes in at 2–1 with a 1–0 ACC start with sophomore quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, who threw for 3,454 yards as a true freshman ready to make a statement and add to his seven touchdown passes through three games.

The Tigers came into the season as a ranked team loaded with talent though they clearly haven’t hit their stride yet through the first three games of the season, particularly after a 51–10 blowout loss to LSU to start the season that head coach Dabo Swinney called about as poor a performance as you'll see from a Clemson team. To their credit, they steadied the ship a bit with wins over Georgia Southern and a 28–20 win on Saturday against North Carolina.

The oddsmakers see a coin flip: Clemson opened a slim 1.5-point favorite, and ESPN's model has it essentially even.

Don’t wait! Get your tickets today and fill up Memorial Stadium this Friday night!
