The Golden Bears are going after another elite prospect.
Cal will host 6’4” combo guard Brady Pettigrew, a five-star in the 2028 class according to the 247Sports composite, on a visit this weekend. An Illinois native from Bolingbrook High School, Pettigrew is the No. 1 combo guard recruit in the nation, according to 247Sports, and a top-10 prospect overall, per ESPN.
Pettigrew, as one could imagine, has offers from countless programs.
But his phone has really blown up ever since he became the first-ever MVP at this summer’s Nike EYBL Peach Jam tournament.
Competing at the 16-U level, Pettigrew averaged 24.8 points per game on 48.7% shooting with 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists.

Everyone wants Pettigrew, especially his local school, Illinois. But the nation’s No. 1 public university has momentum.
Pettigrew’s trip to Berkeley comes one week after Cal coach Mark Madsen and the program landed a commitment from elite 2027 wing Gene Roebuck out of La Mirada.
Madsen’s reputation as a family-like leader, developer and NBA veteran consistently entices recruits. Vying for Pettigrew will be competitive, but Madsen and the Golden Bears are up for the challenge.
Take an extended look at Pettigrew’s journey and talents through a docuseries shared on his YouTube channel.
