He grew up wanting to. He visited Cal several times as a senior, grew close to the staff and his official visit to Cal was on December 2016, with his mom and reports in the media indicating he might stay home.
Nice story but it is not true. He was solid Bama long before December. The coaching change had nothing to do with anything......calumnus said:01Bear said:

He grew up wanting to but commited to Alabama really early (2015). He visited Cal several times as a senior, grew close to the staff and his official visit to Cal was in December 2016, with his mom and reports in the media indicating he might stay home. After the All-American Bowl in San Antonio first week of January he was set to fly home to California to think about his decision: Alabama, Michigan or Cal. He was reportedly very torn. Tosh Lupoi was lobbying the bowl personnel to change his flight to go straight to Alabama with Tua Tagovailoa. Then it was announced that Sunday morning the 7th that Dykes was fired. Harris asked to have his flight changed and he arrived in Alabama on Monday the 8th with Tua and just enrolled, almost a month ahead of signing day. It would have been nice if he had waited to see who the new Cal coach would be (Wilcox was announced on the 14th), but Lupoi was smart and got Najee enrolled instead of waiting to sign an LOI.

Yeah, I read about much of that on this board and other sites. However, in the end, he chose not to go to Cal.
Frankly, when he decided to go to Bama, I was no longer interested in reading about him. I know some folks on this board have closer ties to his family and as a result root for him and follow him. That's great and all, but I never understood why that should be discussed in a Cal sports group.
Then I remembered, a lot of people in this group forget that the state of California extends beyond the Bay Area.

There are a series of "almost" (always debated) Cal players over the years: Tom Brady, Rahsaan Salaam, DJ Williams, Shaq Thompson, Najee Harris, Dirk Nowitski, LeBron James... and even players that transferred from Cal that many Cal fans like myself somewhat follow, sometimes root for a little, sometimes the opposite. Depends on the player.
In this case, Najee just signed with Marshawn's company so consider it Marshawn news if you want.
Also, it's the off-season.
Don't forget Kevin Hart. An almost Bear in the recruit's eyes anywayGrigsby said:Cal Booth, Forge Bond, Lavell Blanchard, Erik Lorigcalumnus said:01Bear said:calumnus said:01Bear said:

"There's likely another Najee right around the corner". Uh... Not for sometime. He is a unique talent that comes along along once every 15-20 years. The last from this area was Lynch.Bear8 said:
It's okay. Najee probably went to the right place for him, not us. He's on his way to the NFL probably as a first round draft choice. I imagine he'll succeed quite well there. We shouldn't complain as we are doing quite alright and there's likely another Najee right around the corner.

Why don't we sign with Marshawn, as in bounce from UA and go to Beast Mode.
