I've been guilty of it, too: lamenting the losses of guys to injury, what have you (i'm excluding a death in the family). Sure, everyone needs to grieve, but the harping on it has gone on too long. So-and-so not being on the field this year sends the wrong message when it's repeated ad nauseum. It sends the message that we don't think the next in line can do the job. It sends a negative message.
We need to be positive with our remarks. Not express doubt when the next guys are picking up the rope and pulling on it just as hard (hmm, where'd that come from?).
Agree. Injuries are part of the game. Deal with it..
Amen to that.
Ever since I came to Cal there have been injury problems. They affect Cal more than other teams due to a lack of depth.
My first years at Cal saw injuries to star players like Craig Morton and little remembered Stan Dzura. A preseason all American pick as a lineman who was lost for his senior season due to a motorcycle(?) injury.
Later in Mouse Davis' debut as HC introducing his Run & Shoot Offense, his starting QB goes down for the season in the third quarter after building up a good lead.
But that's the way it goes. No sense griping about coulda woulda shoulda. That's life.
