This is what happens when you start 0-2 during the 'show me' season. Expect more to follow. What a nut punch.

This is EXACTLY why I've always said that nobody in high school should be allowed to have a "circle"!

Afraid to compete.

Remember that one from the "glory years".

I can bet all you right now that this chap flips to UCLA.

Have you seen what Chip Kelly's doing with Brown and Charbonnet? If you were a star high school RB, would you prefer to play in an offense rubs the ball effectively or one that considers it as something only to open up the passing game?

Musgrave has got to go.

I have. He's using them to bury the last RB who flipped from Cal to Ucla down the depth chart so that he barely gets any rushing attempts anymore.

To be fair ... Wouldn't you want Wilcox to bring in the best talent possible? The recruit you are talking about had a very long touchdown pass reception this year so could just be a case of him coaching people to their strengths. We have no ingenuity on the offensive side of the ball and seem to be stagnating on the defensive side as well. These next 6 games are as much about playing to keep recruits as it is to get to another bowl game.

I would have been happy of those UCLA transfer RBs came in and started in front of ours. But we might still be 0-2 because, well Musgrave.

The circle factor is slick.

Sorry honey, those in my circle have helped me decide to decommit from attending your besties third wedding this weekend. So smooth.

As a fan? Sure.

As a player? No, I wouldn't want to be recruited over with a new grad transfer every year.

He may still come and in any case, I like Damien Moore and DeCarlos Brooks and they are both Sophomores. We've done well with JC guys in the past too.

Just hang onto Justyn Martin.

Fair point. In that case I'd like to utilize the "afraid to compete" rationale.

I am thinking Oregon can give him a better financial deal and better prospects for the NFL, assuming he makes the 2 deep.

Some more evidence that this might be worse than we think. Our big 4* qb recruit who helped Ott decide on cal is still taking official visits to Ole Miss and you guessed it, UCLA. I can already see all this going down and it's painful to watch.

This is a huge loss. This is the type of talent the program desperately needs. 4 star speed guys. Game changers.

Wilcox has been a bust on the field and in recruiting. We need a new coach!

What if Cal goes undefeated in Pac-12 play? Point is, this is all within Cal's control and whatever happens, Cal deserves it. If Ott and Martin commit elsewhere, it'll be Cal's fault, not theirs.

If they go elsewhere it won't be their fault but it won't be "Cal's" fault or the fan's fault.

The guy who gets paid over $3 million a year to assemble a staff, recruit players. win games, recruit players, win games, etc is the one who should be accountable for the results of the above.

I hear what you're saying, yet who and what system are responsible for the over six decades worth of almost continuous hiring of unqualified, unproven coaches and ADs, who cannot be solely faulted for the foreseeable result of living up to their low qualifications. The buck doesn't stop with the HC; after over half a century of face-plantations, we can (and should) take it to a meta level. Ultimately, who but Cal boosters and season-ticket holders choose via our complacency & low standards to pretty much keep employing the same system & procedures for every hiring decision.

welp if Ott and Martin end up at Fucla, the best way to show them that they made a poor choice is for Cal to kick Fucla a** at the end of the year!! Cal has to back it up with wins, simple.

Lol! Fair. But Ott is a bigger back (and looks pretty explosive), along the lines of Charbonnet and Brown. After a redshirt year, he could be UCLA's featured back (or one of two, if Kelly continues to run the same two back rotation).

Decommitting when you don't know who your head coach will be (and probably your position coach for that matter) seems reasonable. Decommitting when the entire coaching staff that recruited you is coming back is a bad look...for you and the coaches.
