Has any team in the pac-12 played consistently each week so far?
Oregon?
Oregon St?
Washington St?
Arizona?

Maybe

But has any team played consistently well so far this season?
Oregon?

I guess if you think that Fresno St. is all that.

Maybe another way to look at this season is that the pac-12 has degenerated down to the level of the MWC

Pac-12 has lost two games to FCS teams and we weren't that far away from making it three

This looks like the worst season for the conference since 1999

Oregon beat Ohio State and Fresno State both by a touchdown. UCLA beat LSU. It may be that Fresno State is a good team.

Oregon > Fresno St. > UCLA
The difference between a right wing conspiracy and the truth is about 20 months.

Oregon > Fresno St. > UCLA

Oregon > Fresno State = Ohio State > UCLA > LSU

So? I didn't say every Pac-12 team was bad. The conference is 16-16 in OOC play with two losses to FCS teams!

"The conference" is not having a good or bad year. Some members are having good years and others are having bad years. Similar to other conferences every year.

And from the aggregation of their members conferences can be evaluated as being stronger or weaker, as people who follow college football do every year across the country. I don't get your opposition to this at all.

My main point wasn't an evaluation of the quality of play but it was the inconsistency of play from week to week, especially the inconsistency of good play. I agree that one explanation is that Fresno St. is at Pac-12 level and Ohio St./LSU is also at pac-12 level. But I'm not sure that will play out as the season progresses.

Another edition of inconsistent play heading toward another year outside the playoffs. Oregon is our only hope but will have to go undefeated to accomplish this and I think they'll lose at least 1 game in conference. It is dispiriting to see the number of 5* players (including many of the top QBs in the nation) from the PAC12 footprint lining up for tOSU, AL, Clemson, OK et al. Dang!

USC and Oregon will probably join the semi-pro association by the middle of the decade, and the MWC will integrate with the leftover pac10.

This makes sense. Also some conference teams have had bad and good games such as UW and Furd. When all is said and done, the Pac finally may have a team in contention for the playoffs, and could have a few teams worthy of good bowls. I'm old enough to recall when only two conference teams were really any good .

That's proving to be somewhat accurate so far, although I have a hard time believing Fresno St. would beat LSU head to head.

Well my post is looking stupider each week. Way to give away lead Oregon defense.

I will stand by my earlier assertion that this may be one of the worst overall years for the P12 in recent memory. As a group, they are horrible. The talent drain from west to east has caught up with the conference and the result is evident every week.

Not only is top talent leaking out of the conference to other areas, IIRC. participation in football in the conference's largest talent pool (California) has declined significantly in recent years. That may be true across the country but I suspect the trend is stronger out here than in the south/southwest.

This is the perfect year for an underdog team with an up and coming coach to take advantage of a down P12. Congratulations to Oregon State.
