If I was Dictator of California I'd cut down all eucalyptus. Smelly, ugly, messy, non-native fire hazards.
And since it makes pretty darn good firewood too, a decent portion of removal costs can be covered by selling the stuff. I've mixed it in with oak and it good suff, a nice win/win. Of course, only burn on the appropriate days to do so...
Burning eucalyptus in the fireplace is not a good idea. The wood is full of oils which create a lot of soot when combusted. This soot fouls chimneys and can lead to chimney fires.
Yup, for sure. Keep it burning really hot lessens such though... Build-up is more prevalent at lower temps. I swept our wood-burning stove's flu at least once a year.
Bringing back memories of parties, it being 20 degrees outside (Uvas Canyon area of Morgan Hill), and nearly 100 inside! A creative way to see clothes shed, lol.
Sig test...
