It may be hard to believe but there were actually 2 positive developments yesterday.
The student section/mic man actually began, without benefit of the stadium PA, a "Hey Alumni Go/Bears" cheer, for the first time in a loooong time. Plus a few timely "Roll On You Bears".
And (2) there was no sing-along with Freddie Mercury. Addition by subtraction, I suppose.
As with every game this year there were cards in the student section but no attempt to do stunts.
Also as usual, no Band pre-game or post-game field show. There was a halftime show. Oddly, the halftime show was the only time all day the band wore their uniform coats -- at Sproul, march up, in the stands they were coatless. It was too hot-...ish?
It really pains me to say this as I've been their biggest fan for 50 years, but the Band is getting sloppy and lazy.
The piped in music seemed more egregiously obtrusive than usual, or maybe I was just in a bad mood.
