Why in the heck would they cover that game? Oregon is a pretender and UCLA is mediocre.
There really isn't a better game next week, unless you think USC vs. Notre Dame is better. To me it's a toss up and so they chose to be in California rather than Indiana. Makes sense to me.NVBear78 said:

ESPN invested a ton of cash in an LA outpost that is cratering money. They need as much west coast and preferably Los Angles exposure at they can get.socaliganbear said:

Didn't I read somewhere that SportsCenter wanted to come to Berkeley for the Tennessee game, but Sandy/Cal nixed it. Seriously! We didn't even get this during our heyday years under Tedford. Talk about a win for UCLA.

I must've missed their Nobel Prizes this year. I know, we only got one.
What is the third P12 school in LA?okaydo said:
I'm struggling to connect what ESPN College Gameday has to do with ESPN LOs Angeles.
Like what would ESPN LA staffers do that isn't done at other Gameday locations?
Also, I have no idea about the cost. But it makes sense to have an LA presence just because it's close to Hollywood and Los Angeles has 3 PAC 12 schools.. And LA has 2 of the hottest NFL and NBA teams. ANd the Dodgers and Shohei.

Geez, if you are counting stuff like that, southern California probably has many more than three P12 schools.okaydo said:71Bear said:What is the third P12 school in LA?okaydo said:

I suspect if you count everything that is accredited, there are well over 100 public and private universities in Southern California and, at least, 50+ in the Bay Area.wifeisafurd said:Even Big 10 schools!71Bear said:Geez, if you are counting stuff like that, southern California probably has many more than three P12 schools.okaydo said:71Bear said:What is the third P12 school in LA?okaydo said:

That is simply not remotely true. Sort of ridiculously untrue. Game Day would have come to Berkeley, but in absolutely typical Cal fashion where the most crazy unlikely unrelated thing can negatively impact us, Game Day went to Virginia Tech in honor of the massacre that had taken place there earlier in the year. Herbie wanted to cover this game so badly, he flew out after the Game Day Show in Blacksburg and did the Prime Time Nationally featured game with Brent Mussburger. The entire telecast was an homage to Cal and Cal football. It was a real highpoint of national exposure during the great Tedford run.Big Dog said:Didn't I read somewhere that SportsCenter wanted to come to Berkeley for the Tennessee game, but Sandy/Cal nixed it. An 8-clap for the hospitality and welcome. Tremendous response by everyone! And @BillWalton that’s all we need to say! https://t.co/V52jnZ7isp
