I'm pretty proud to say I graduated Berkeley. I tell everyone that knows me I graduated as a Socialist/Communist but then I moved away, saw, heard, read, experienced, stopped being indoctrinated then come to realization and decided to no longer take the "Blue" pill. Life is so much clearer now. Kudos to Aaron for realizing the same.hanky1 said:

So let me get this straight: Aaron calls criticism of his "I still own you" statement an example of political correctness and cancel culture!?
Here's the question: Where the hell is the criticism? If people connected to the Bears are offended, well, yeah, that's understandable. But is that PC culture? Is that cancel culture?
Can somebody point me to a media member (again, not associated with the Bears) who found what Rodgers said offensive? Serious question!
I follow hundreds of sports media members on Twitter, and they all found his comment hilarious.
But even if there was criticism: Who cares? Why does Rodgers care?
He did it. He knew it would be controversial? Why is he so sensitive about reaction to his comments?
And what does reaction to his comments have to do with cancel culture? Is he being canceled? Do people (again, other than the Bears) want him canceled?
The funny thing is Rodgers is denouncing people being overly sensitive and "woke," yet here he is being overly sensitive and woke about (non-existent) criticism about himself.
If they awarded medals in the Oppression Olympics, I think Rodgers may have earned at least a silver.

The point is he is declaring his distaste for "Woke" culture which is a very good thing for a public figure like Aaron to do!

Just look at what's happening to Dave Chappelle. People are walking out of jobs at Netflix calling for his head…I think it's kind of like that.
Way to make the headline of the post fit your agenda....ridiculous. Think he wants his name off of the Cal locker room, or you didn't quite get that far??hanky1 said:

It's pretty obvious that Rodgers' career has been driven by his mentality that nobody believes in him and that he wants to prove the haters wrong. He's far from the first great athlete to have been driven by this mentality. It is what it is.okaydo said:NVBear78 said:okaydo said:

To repeat: Rodgers is complaining about being overly insensitive and woke while being overly insensitive and woke about himself.
Can you answer this question: What does he and his actions have to do with P.C. culture and cancel culture?
He wants to be oppressed by cancel culture, but who the hell is oppressing him?
He suffers from the victim mentality that he denounces.
Of all the people who'd like to punch Aaron Rodgers in the face, one of them has an actual track record of punching faces. https://t.co/T0RvNQOXJR

I would suggest to stop seeing the world in terms of blue/red pills, stay clear of binary tribal thinking, winning/losing, and just have honest open conversations about making the world as good a place we can make it for as many people as possible.BearinOC said:I'm pretty proud to say I graduated Berkeley. how can you call a school that soen't allow free speech progressive?
I used to be much more proud of being a Cal alum, back in the free speech days when I was there

As far as I can tell, Rodgers reacted to a Bears fan giving him the finger with the comment that he owns them. He was being interviewed at the time. Big deal.
But, as a progressive, I've heard Rogers on conservative and reactionary broadcasts and I don't really like what I hear.
Rogers is a great NFL player but I'm not sure I'm all that proud that he came out of Cal (a progressive institution) and I'm pretty sure he isn't either.
I'd look to the Chico area as a better representation of who he is and what he's about. And that is probably why he does not mention Cal but mentions Butte instead. It's intentional.
Rogers strikes me as a somewhat immature sourpuss who thinks he is smart politically because many are frustrated with the same things. He's sort of like Trump in that way.
There is a strong movement in this country that believes the country would be better off run by guys like him instead of politicians.
I respectfully disagree with that but it makes him sort of a leader to that group.
But I seriously doubt that Rogers has thought seriously about any of the issues he speaks out about, even though he acts like he has.

I know what he says to the media and it's weak. And, unless Shailene Woodley is a ventriloquist that sounds and looks like ARod, it really doesn't matter who she is. I'm not basing my comments on any 3rd party. I'm basing it on what Aron has said.StarsDoMatter said:heartofthebear said:

do you know who Shailene Woodley is?
You don't know Aaron at all, or what he thinks about. Stop spewing nonsense.
You make a good point but it is probably more progressive than a lot of Universities and at least it has a progressive tradition.Oakbear said:
