close game, questionable defensive hold at the goal line that the Bengal fans will be talking about for awhile
Matt Stafford had never won a playoff game when the Rams traded for him.

Yeah, but in fairness, which I am not particularly interested in when it comes to the Rams, Bengals got a TD out of a face mask grab that got missed. That evened things up.

Nothing from A-Rod yet, but he apparently liked the half-time show based on his likes. Totally understand Jared and DeSean taking a pass. They can text their guys separately.

Not true. The 49ers took 2 out of 3 games from the Rams this season, and the Giants won more than half of their games with the Dodgers. And the Lakers and Clippers are no match for the Warriors. Plus the Golden Bears beat the Trojans.

Has any Bay Area team won a national championship since the equivalent sport L.A. team?

My many fans (yes, that is irony) will be satisfied to learn that I watched the last six minutes of the Super Bowl! And I will say one good thing about it: It was a helluva lot better than what's following it. I left the TV on because how bad could the Winter Olympics be? I mean, it's the Olympics, right? Wrong. Women's Monobob and then Ice Dancing, complete with the TV pundits edifying us with the fascinating idiosyncrasies of each "sport". Not a huge surprise that ratings are down... but can the games be any worse than they used to?

Good for you. Most Bay Area people have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to SoCal. Most Socal people otoh could not pick out Norcal on a map.sycasey said:ducky23 said:

I feel zero rivalry with the Rams. They're just another divisional opponent.

Giants-Dodgers is a real rivalry. Obvious geographic pair (on two coasts), and each team has gotten the other in plenty of big spots. Lots of history.
49ers and Rams used to have something like a rivalry too, but 20 years in St. Louis kind of killed that, plus they were rarely good at the same time. This year is the first in a long time I felt like they played actual meaningful games against each other. Need a little more than that to make it a real rivalry. Just being back in LA isn't enough.

Im not going to sugar coat this one bit.
You really have no idea what youre talking about.
The performances have been terrific!
Team USA took Gold and Silver in Mono Bob.
Humphrey's and Meyers Taylor.
Humphrey's is #1 in the World and a Canadian who was abused by her coach. She was begging for U.S. citizenship in order to compete in the 2022 Games, and she got it at the last minute. Meyers was a brakeman on previous Team USA bobsled teams. She was in Covid quarantine for 7 days in Beijing, was supposed to be the flag bearer but tested positive for Covid. She was away from her young son who is still nursing and has Down's Syndrome, and her husband, also in Beijing. And yet she still had the fastest start time. She has 200m dash speed and can squat 400 lbs. She won Silver.
Meanwhile, Erin Jackson from Ocola, Florida just won a Gold in Speed Skating (500m), the first for Team USA in 28 years and the first for an African American. She was ranked #1 in the world, but stumbled in the Olympic Trials. Her friend and teammate Brittany Bowe GAVE UP HER SPOT in the 500m so Jackson could make Team USA.
Its "ok" to not be a fan of the Olympics.
Just admit it and move on.
But crapping all over ELITE ATHLETES that you have no clue about is terribly stupid.

She got a raw deal…
Tafoya, in a long interview we had, says she'll be co-chairing @KendallQuallsMN's campaign. She will also appear in some form at CPAC in Orlando in late February, including possibly interviewing @EnesFreedom at the event. Then onto making herself available for political shows. https://t.co/KLESqk6YNL

I have been a fan of the Olympics for most of my life and was in almost a dream state to be able to attend the Olympic Games in LA in 1984 (saw Carl Lewis win the gold in the long jump and saw Pernell Whitaker win a bout in boxing). However, I have to draw the line at manufactured, corporate sports such as "Mono Bob". How can the announcers -- how can anybody -- even say that without laughing?
I saw the Mono Bob human interest stories drummed up by the network. You can care, but it is not "crapping on them" to say that I don't care about their story any more than I care about the story of the person down the street from me. Everybody's got a story. Many of them are compelling. "Mono Bob" doesn't enhance it, in my book.
Did you like that Ice Dancing? That French couple, wow!
Apparently my view is not a minority one, as these Games have all-time low ratings, but then most of us "really have no idea what we're talking about".
EDIT: Just saw your post on the other board about half pipe. Enjoyed that clip much more than mono bob and ice dancing!
I think the Winter Olympics suck.DiabloWags said:Big C said:

Oh please.
Why not just admit (as I suggested earlier) that you arent a fan of the WINTER OLYMPICS.
Manufactured "corporate" sports like Mono Bob?
Says who?
Never mind that the 2 and 4-man Bobsled competition has been in the Winter Olympics since 1924.
And you're all bent out of shape because of a 1-man Bobsled event?
lol
Yes, I did enjoy the Ice Dancing competition.
And it's been an Olympic sport since 1976.
Just like I enjoyed watching the Women's Biathlon and the Skeleton.
You'd have to be a fool not to be able to enjoy and appreciate those performances.
I can tell that you arent a Winter Olympics fan because you're too caught up conflating TV ratings with the performances.
You're too busy trying to support your ridiculous claim with nonsense.
Since when do the performances have anything to do with TV ratings?
The Super Bowl probably had over 100 million viewers yesterday.
Too bad TV viewership has nothing to do with the fact that it was a fairly boring game until the last 2 minutes.
NBC knew that their viewership was going to be down close to 50% during the Games in China.
They cut their ad rates accordingly before the Olympics started.
Do you really believe that Mikaela Shiffern cares about TV ratings?
Shaun White? Chloe Kim? Eileen Gu? Nathan Chen?
Julia Marino? Jesse Diggins? Lyndsey Jacobellis?
Erin Jackson? Megan Nick? Elana Meyers?
You're clearly not a Winter Olympic's fan.
I get it.
Totally agree on the live stuff. t would also be nice if Peacock could be more remotely correct on what it describes is happening in different episodes. We ended up deleting a lot of events we really like (like ski and board cross) and ended up with a lot of curling, which then was deleted with prejudice. The biggest curse is is you then have to go to Peacock ON Demand because you can't scan out the commercials out and when move forward or backward you can't see what you are missing. Maybe I just don't know how to work Peacock or my Savant doesn't have the programming.Goobear said:
I grew up speed skating in Holland and still am a big fan. I learned the American woman who won the 500 m gold first stepped on skates in Holland and now won the 500 m gold. So I want to see that. The problem is nothing is a surprise during prime time because all the results are already known. I hate that and NBC wants you to believe it is all live. It is a joke.
