Seems crazy for Austin to be so low with 6th St and the music scene throughout the city...???

Totally not surprised SF State is not on there.

This is BS - they changed the methodology to move away from diversity of drugs consumed to just total quantity. They also put more weight on alcohol than drugs. Totally biased. We should be at least top #25.

Knew Cal wouldn't be on it, but still happy about going for individual gold medal in my events.

When I was in school, mid to late '70's Chico was #1 by Playboy in back to back years. And was never lower than #3 during that time. And SDSU was always in top 5.

Reason I checked it out. Not that I have been up on this in the past 30 plus years. I certainly recall hearing Chico State throne out frequently concerning "party schools" in conversation and usually first mentioned. Had no idea of the reality. Other CA schools were mentioned after Chico but they were not consistently brought up as much.

When I was in school in the 80's and visited UCSB and SDSU so see friends, they sure felt like top 10 back then.

When making a campus tour of UCSB with my daughter on a Saturday in 2009 we walked through Isla Vista and it actually frightened her and it was late afternoon.

When I was at Cal in the 60's and 70's (undergrad, grad, law school)
Chico State and San Diego State were the top party schools in CA and UCSB was way up there and a close third.
I guess UCSB has been falling as its number of Nobel prize winners has gone up.

I went to visit a cousin at Chico State around 1989, it was absolutely crazy - I don't know how those guys/gals made it through college. Also went to the Halloween part at Isla Vista at UCSB. Completely, bats**t insane. Lived in Boulder for almost a decade, that place would go completely crazy on occasion. All of the above were just flat-out more bonkers than anything I had seen at Cal in the mid/late-1980s.

This is a good thing, we had a lot of fun at times, but the partying at those schools could be pretty cringey - almost no filter whatsoever.

I went to a Saturday night party with a friend ... at San Jose' State (ranked in the top 5 of party schools at the period by Playboy Magazine).....I said sure. I thought it would be fun...

Remember I was a nice boy and my mother told me to wear a tie if ever invited to any college parties....hee hee....I always did what my mother told me to......

The moment that I entered the party, I went into shock.

I saw a girl that I knew passed out draped over the top of a recliner chair...face down....

I walked in and out of no where, my ex-girl friend came up to me and kissed me! She was smoking something that smelled funny.....She handed me what looked like a tiny piece of wrapped lit paper...I refused of course...I told her that I still don't smoke....

.....then, my ex's roommate handed me a good looking brownie cookie that she said that she made herself...she winked at me for some reason...I took one and started to eat it....that's when I told her that it had tasted something like dried hay mixed in it? Everybody around me stopped, looked at me, and then looked at each other for some reason?

Next a guy came up to me and gave me a sugar cube claiming it would take the cookie taste away.....I ate it....
I wish that I could tell you more....but...I can't remember anymore.....

....I can only guess....

The next day I ran into a bunch of girls who were at the party....and they said I sat on the floor in the middle of the room....they said one of them asked me what I thought about my ex...they said that all I said was that "she flowed!" They all thought that was cool.

oh....I never did find or see my tie again.....

When my son graduated from UCSB in 2005, his comment during graduation was that "sure I did partying with booze and other stuff, but you should be glad that I wasn't involved in filming porn movies". So that is another factor to the party schools.

I did a 3 semester tour of duty at ASU in the early 2000's. It was pretty, pretty stimulating and I learned that education comes in many forms and how to make a gravity bong.

Where is Santa Cruz??? I have to say that my sons friend at Santa Cruz...I have never seen them not stoned. Never. Not since 10th grade...they are all on year 5 or 6 there.
