Just a few suggestions if you have time around Cal events, all somewhat near the Cal hotel:
1) Archtectual tour
2) Art Institue/Millennium Park
3) Field Museum
4) The Aquarium
5) Great restaurants
7) Cubs home game mid day Friday
Edit: if you are in Chicago, the Notre Dame game and travel will be a whole day event.
Making it a Bucket List trip:
Travel on Sunday to Green Bay for Bears vs Packers
Great list. Thanks WIAF. Two questions:
1. Do I contact Cal Athletics for the Friday evening Cal event in downtown Chicago? Or, who?
2. The other Bears at Packers sounds pretty darn awesome. Do you know if there are still tickets available for that game? I'd love to attend that game because I want to see AR play (last time I saw him play in person, he completed 20+ passes in a row against U$C in the LA Colosseum). Also, watching a game in the Lambeau Field is a special treat (I have seen the other Bears play at Vikings and Vikings play in Detroit, but never saw GB play).
Go Bears!
thanks.
If you have a ticket rep, you could contact them.
That said, If you are in one of the two Cal travel groups, you already are automatically enrolled for all Cal events and the bus rides to and from the game.
The Packers game you probably have to stub hub unless you know someone. It is a lot like Notre Dame games - they used to always sell out, and generally they do. Season tickets take up most of the stadium and those tickets have been sold out
since 1960, and there are over 100,000 names are on the waiting list (with a reported average wait time of 30 years). And the Bears are a big rival. So you are paying some bucks for probably mediocre or lousy seats, and a game at Lambeau is still worth the price.
