What was exceptional here is the 49ers making the playoffs with a third string, Mr. Irrelevant QB.

Fifth-round rookie Yates replaced Matt Leinart, Delhomme, and Schaub and won a playoff game, but he didn't lead a team on a playoff making win streak like Purdy did.

They were in good shape to make the playoffs already when he showed up, but to make this deep a run, yes.

But it's been brutal ever since.


Sour grapes, the Eagles' dominant pass rush is their main team strength, 70 sacks this season, 16 for Reddick, they were bound to get a lot of hits on the 9ers rookie QB. Niners are a bad matchup for Philly, they lost badly.

9ers are still paying the price of passing over Rodgers in the 2005 draft, biggest mistake in the history of the franchise.
It didn't halp that the weakest link on the Niners' team is the offensive line. They need to focus on the OL in the upcoming NFL draft.
